- All guns and rifles must be secured in a case or bag unless otherwise directed by a Florida Firearms Academy associate.
- We will check your ammunition every time.
- Lead is toxic. Ladies, If you are pregnant, or think you might be, you should not be in the range. LEAD IS IRREVERSIBLY HAZARDOUS TO YOUR BABY! No eating or drinking on the range. When you are done shooting we request that you wash your hands.

Rental Policy
Anyone wishing to rent a firearm for use on our range will need to be accompanied by at least one other person of legal age (21 years old). There will be no rentals of firearms to individuals who wish to rent a firearm solo. This policy includes both members and non-member customers. Exceptions to this rule include. 1. Individuals who already own a firearm and have brought it to our facility the day they wish to rent. 2. Persons who are taking a “1 on 1 class” with one of our instructors or are taking another firearms class with one of our instructors. 3. Active Law Enforcement with appropriate identification. - Florida Firearms Academy has the final say in determining appropriate safe gun handling, proper ammunition, rate of fire, appropriate behavior, appropriate dress or there is a suspicion of any one under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Failure to comply with an ejection will result with you meeting a Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputy, or two...
Safe Gun Handling
- Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. Loaded or not! Maintain muzzle awareness. We are not a safe direction... neither are you, or any other person.
- Keep your finger off the trigger, unless you are going to shoot.
- Keep your gun unloaded until ready to shoot.
- Good gun handlers treat all guns as if they are loaded. It is out of respect to other people.
- Ear muff hearing protection is mandatory in our range! No Exceptions. It is for your benefit. Eye protection is also mandatory. Regular eyeglasses made of plastic lenses are acceptable eye protection.
All ammunition will be inspected prior to entry to our indoor shooting range.
Max Ammunition Specifications:
- NO AMMUNITION MORE POWERFUL THAN A 3,600 FT/LB OF ENERGY.
- NO AMMUNITION FASTER THAN 3,800 FPS.
- NO ALL LEAD AMMO, except for buckshot, shotgun slugs, 22LR and pellets
- NO STEEL CORE AMMUNITION OR ARMOR PIERCING.
- NO MUZZLE LOADERS OR OTHER WEAPONS THAT OPERATE OFF OF BLACK POWDER OR BLACK POWDER SUBSTITUTE.
- NO BB GUNS. PELLET GUNS ARE ALLOWED IF THE PROJECTILES MOVE FASTER THAN 1,000 FPS. NO STEEL, STEEL TIPPED, OR ALLOY PELLETS.
- Ammunition which is not proper will be held at the counter and returned to you when you leave.
Safe Gun Handling
- No holster draw, except for current law enforcement officers or customers who have taken holster draw classes from Florida Firearms Academy.
- Clean up after yourself. Shooters are responsible for proper disposal of all shell casings.
- Only handle your firearm on the range in the RED ZONE. Never walk around with a gun in your hand; not in the store or on the shooting range. Always put your firearm in your case or bag to move it around our facility.
If you need to move a firearm from one lane to another lane or from behind RED ZONE:
- Unload Firearm
- Place firearm into a case
- Move firearm to new location
- Do not point firearm directly up at the ceiling or directly toward the floor.
Problems? Need Help?
- If you have a problem and you need our help, leave your gun on the shooting range and ask the shooting range officer or other employee. DO NOT BRING US A MALFUNCTIONING GUN! Leave it at your lane, pointed downrange.
- Do not try to retrieve personal items that have fallen in front of the firing line. Let a Florida Firearms Academy associate assist you with this.
- Immediately report any injuries, no matter how small, to Florida Firearms Academy staff.
- Hot brass can become stuck in loose and low fitting clothing or open toed shoes. If brass does become stuck in clothing, lay the gun down, pointed downrange before removing hot brass from clothing
