Overview:
Florida Firearms Academy’s Basic Shotgun Course is made for shooters who are looking for knowledge on shotguns that they own or are intending to purchase. This includes the universal safety rules of firearms training, safe handling and proper use of firearms. First focusing on safety, we include shotgun mechanics, and building the core skills needed for safe, confident shooting.

- First-time shotgun owners
- Those seeking a better understanding of shotgun mechanics
What You’ll Learn:
✅ Safe handling and storage of shotguns
✅ Shotgun types and how they function
✅ Proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control
✅ How to load, unload, and make a shotgun safe
✅ Shotgun calibers / gauges and types of ammunition
✅ The most efficient and practical ways to practice
✅ Live-fire exercise under instructor supervision
What’s Included:
- Professional instruction by USCCA and/or NRA certified professionals
- Range time and live-fire exercise
- Eye and ear protection
- Paper Targets
- Note: If you bring your own firearm, ammunition is not included, but is available for purchase
What to Bring:
- Valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport)
- Your shotgun and 10 rounds of 00 Buckshot
- Curiosity, questions, and readiness to learn
- Notepad and pen (optional)
- Ammunition available for in-store purchase: .410 bore, 20 gauge, and 12 gauge. If you have a firearm of any other gauge, you will need to bring your own 00 buckshot ammunition.

Approximately 1.5 hours

- Standard: $75
Important Notes:
- Students must be at least 21 years old.
- All participants will complete a live-fire exercise
- Ammunition requirement is approximately 10 rounds per student.
- Class spots fill quickly – pre-registration is required.
