Overview:
Florida Firearms Academy’s Open Carry Class is your gateway to lawful, responsible open carry in the State of Florida. This professionally instructed course will help you understand the benefits, liabilities and risks of open carry.
Who This Class Is For:
- Firearm owners wanting to better understand Florida’s Open Carry Law
- Seasoned shooters needing to learn holster draw and understand firearm retention
- Anyone who values personal protection and wants to carry lawfully and responsibly
What You’ll Learn:
✅ Basic Florida firearm and self-defense laws
✅ Where you can and cannot carry
✅ Proper holster draw methodologies
✅ Self-defense event liabilities and responsibilities
✅ Live-fire and holster draw qualification under instructor supervision
What’s Included:
- Professional instruction by USCCA and/or NRA certified professionals
- Range time and live-fire evaluation
- The ability to holster draw at FFA if qualified – (additional instruction may be necessary)
- Eye and ear protection
- FREE Paper Targets
- Note: Ammunition is not included, but is available for purchase
What is REQUIRED to Bring:
- Valid photo ID (driver’s license or passport)
- Your firearm and 50 rounds of factory ammunition
- At least 2 magazines
- An OWB (Outside the Waist Band) holster
- Notepad and pen (optional)

Approximately 2 hours

- Standard: $70
Important Notes:
- Students must be at least 21 years old to apply for a Florida CWP.
- All participants will complete a live-fire qualification
- Class spots fill quickly – pre-registration is required.
